6 – 18 February (no Mondays), 7:30pm @ Ibis Palace, 334 Murray St, Perth, 6000 •
Presented by The Great Debacle •
One hour. One woman. One show.
Showgirl, performance artist, and theatre designer, Carletta The Great is scrumptiously weird! Witness the dissection of her glittery world as she serves it splattered on a platter of delightfully surreal madness.
A powerful, visceral, and exposing performance, A Showgirl: Deconstructed takes an innovative new look at the life behind the showgirl mask, exploring the often-overlooked art form of burlesque. Delving into what lies behind the ‘stage persona’, Carletta is setting the temperature high and cooking up a dish or two you never knew you wanted.
A Showgirl: Deconstructed celebrates the female form by drawing inspiration from Dadaism, dreamscapes, and the modern day feminist. Carletta The Great’s live cinematic performance, directed by award winning theatre maker, and reigning Miss Burlesque Australia Willow J Conway, is beautiful, raw, and honest avant-garde theatre at it’s best.
“The cool, ever-so-sassy Carletta the Great wraps us around her well-manicured finger… if you are looking for the different side of the world of pasties and pouts – this is it.” – Theatre Press
“Raw, honest theatre” – Weekend Notes
