Music ∙
23 February @ The Astor Theatre ∙
Presented by: Australian Chamber Orchestra ∙

It’s chamber music but not as you know it.

ACO Underground is the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s electro-infused spin-off band and they’re here to break tradition and take you on a unique sonic journey.

Led by founder, front-woman, violinist and singer Satu Vänskä, this reimagined string quartet features ACO’s Artistic Director Richard Tognetti, cellist Julian Thompson, Violent Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie and Midnight Oil guitarist Jim Moginie. This band can make an ethereal hymn sound like a pop song or heavy metal sound like it was written in the 17th Century, as they bring to the stage music by Bach, Kurt Cobain, Ravel, Nick Drake, Locatelli, Richard Tognetti and Pete Seeger.

It’s an unexpected and thrilling musical exploration.
