Dvořák’s transcendent beauty and Prokofiev’s triumph over adversity.
Exciting young Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández (pictured) makes his WASO debut performing a cornerstone of the cello repertoire – Dvořák’s ever-popular Concerto. Its exquisite melodies and lush harmonies are the work of a composer nostalgic for his homeland and mourning a beloved sister.
Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony is a wartime testament which the composer described as “a symphony of the greatness of the human spirit”. This powerful work is brought to life by rising star American conductor Joshua Weilerstein.
“Pablo Ferrández will be one of the best cellists in the future. No: he is already.” – Diapason Magazine (France)
