AEON – A SONIC WALK. A QUEER NATURE.

Co-created by a team of multidisciplinary artists, Aeon lands a portable speaker in your palm and invites you to meet your fellow audience members at twilight for a one-hour walk through a secret parkland location 8km from the CBD.

Informed by three simple rules that enable the synchronised movement of bird flocks; separation, alignment and cohesion and queer ecology, Aeon is activated by silence, sound, civic responsibility and personal desire. A playful push through public space and private discomfort, this participatory experiment in group behaviour questions what it means to be natural.

The exploratory nature of the work, both physically and psychologically makes every performance unique. It culminates in a sound installation followed by snacks and drinks and an opportunity to mingle.

Aeon involves a significant amount of walking, potential nudity and an intense sound experience recommended for 15 years and over. Accessibility requirements must be discussed prior to booking by calling PICA’s Reception on 9228 6300.

The season runs from 26 – 28 October at 5:30pm and on 29 October at 6am and 5:30pm. Preview ticket prices on 26 October are $20, otherwise ranging from $32 to $15. Duration is 75 minutes. Online bookings close the day before the performance, please call PICA’s Reception for booking enquiries on the day of the show.

AEON is presented by PICA and Tura New Music as part of the 13th Totally Huge New Music Festival.
