Theatre: Lemon

3 – 7 December @ The Blue Room Theatre ·
Presented by Theatre Arts ·

Theatre Arts at Curtin’s Hayman Theatre presents Lemon, written by Gita Bezard and directed by Adam Mitchell.

It’s hard not to be cynical when the world is on fire. This new play weaves together characters struggling with the destruction of the planet, the pessimists, the fighters and those who see the world through lemon tinted glasses.

Annie is interviewing for apocalypse friends. Storm believes that love will come if you just ask loud enough. Daniel is going to save the world as soon as he gets his blog started, you just wait and see. “Lemon” is an ecological comedy about finding the joy in hopelessness.

Theatre: Perpetual Wake

28 Aug – 7 Sep @ Subiaco Arts Centre ·
Presented by The Last Great Hunt ·

Our second work in The Last Great Hunt’s 2019 Perth season is Perpetual Wake, written by Jeffrey Jay Fowler and Gita Bezard and directed by Gita Bezard.

Fiona West has written a stunning debut novel: Perpetual Wake. When career maker and breaker Paul Creel reviews the manuscript, he finds his life represented inshocking detail. He finally feels understood.

The impressed Creel invites West for a casual ‘wine and chat’ two days before his review is to be published. But when they meet he discovers the book he considered an elegant insight into the human mind, was intended as a hysterical satire! Creel leaves the meeting determined to ensure that West’s book will be buried before  the year is out. But West is a tougher rival than he expects and so a war begins.

From Australia’s hottest theatrical outfit: The Last Great Hunt, comes Perpetual Wake, surreal dark comedy about the depths people sink in order to conceal their shame.

Theatre: The Talk

11 – 21 April @ Subiaco Arts Centre ·
Presented by The Last Great Hunt ·

More than just the birds and the bees.

Think back to when you had ‘The Talk’ (you’ve probably tried to forget it). Maybe your mother told you to “be careful”. Maybe your teacher told you to “abstain”. You felt prepared, right?

Eva is 15 and all she wants is answers. No more condom demonstrations or close-up slides of chlamydia. She needs honesty, and she’s not afraid to get it.

One petition, one riot and one school suspension later, Eva sets out on her own quest to discover just what it is that everyone is hiding.

Written by Gita Bezard (The Advisors, Girl Shut Your Mouth) this hilarious and pointed new show from The Last Great Hunt holds up the fears of the adults against the questions of the teenagers. This is: The Talk.
