1 August @ Nedlands Community Care, 97 Waratah Avenue, Dalkeith ·
Presented by: Nedlands Community Care ·

Join Nedlands Community Care from 10am, August 1, for a special screening of the award-winning classic The Red Shoes starring Moira Shearer.

In the 1948 film, Shearer plays Vicky Page – an aspiring ballerina torn between her dedication to dance and her desire to love. While her imperious instructor urges to her to forget anything but ballet, Vicky begins to fall for a charming young composer.

The film won two Academy Awards, as well as receiving nominations for best picture and best original screenplay.
In 1999, The Red Shoes was voted the ninth greatest British film of all time by the British Film Institute and, in 2017, a poll of 150 actors, directors, writers, producers and critics for Time Out magazine ranked it the fifth best British film ever made.

Cost is $5, including morning tea at Nedlands Community Care (enter via side door), with the movie to follow at the Village Cinema next door. Lunch is also available for $10 afterwards. Bookings are essential – RSVP on (08) 9386 6170 or email positiveageing@nedlands.wa.gov.au.
