To all our valued supporters,

We start 2025 with some very exciting news!

In thanking you so much for your continued interest and support for Seesaw Magazine during our extended pause, we are thrilled to let you know that we have secured significant funding and will soon be resuming publication.

We are grateful to all our donors and to the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) for supporting our application through the Arts Organisations Annual Activity Program and acknowledging the value that Seesaw brings to arts audiences, artists and arts organisations.

Seesaw will be able to implement new measures in the coming months as we look to get Seesaw back up and running sustainably as an independent arts magazine providing news, reviews and informed views about the creative sector in Western Australia.

We are very excited to be able to take this next step after needing  to pause our regular reviewing and other publication activity in late 2023 so that the Board could take stock and review Seesaw’s financial and operating model to set us in good stead for the future.

This welcome news of new funding support from the State Government coincides with the recent publication of the final review from our Seesaw Regional Writers mentorship program that we have run in the second half of 2024,  thanks to the support of the DLGSC. You can read Davina Edwards’ review of Wundig wer Wilura at the York Festival on the Seesaw website, along with reviews by other regional mentorship participants Sarah-Jayne Eeles, Olivia Little, Daniela Palitos and Sarah Hinton.

Seesaw is grateful to have had the opportunity to implement this mentoring program as we seek to help develop and grow a vibrant Western Australian creative sector. This program assisted regionally based arts writers to improve their skills and confidence to review and share stories of the amazing work by artists and organisations across the State.

To all of you that have supported us over the past 12 months in particular, including our loyal Buy Me A Coffee supporters – we thank you. We really appreciate you continuing to show faith in the importance of promoting independent arts journalism that shines a light on the creative sector through Seesaw Magazine.

A community-building enterprise like Seesaw depends on a broad base of collective support and we look forward to you all being part of our successful relaunch this year. Stay tuned for further updates over coming months – we sincerely hope that you will continue to be part of Seesaw’s journey.

With gratitude and warm wishes for a wonderful year ahead.
