Virtuosity and sublime lyricism side by side.

Chinese-born Australian cello virtuoso Li-Wei Qin and conductor Douglas Boyd make a welcome return to WASO. Saint-Saëns’ stormy, mercurial First Cello Concerto is an audience favourite, a virtuosic showpiece that positively erupts with melodic invention. Scottish conductor Douglas Boyd made an impressive WASO debut in 2013 and now brings his insightful interpretation of Vaughan Williams’ sublime Fifth Symphony to Perth audiences.
