26 April @ Cinema Paradiso ·
Presented by Luna Palace Cinema ·

Celebrate the opening night of the 21st Spanish Film Festival on Thursday April 26 with a glass of Freixenet Cava on arrival before the Australian premiere of the dance-floor comedy THE TRIBE, Spain’s answer to The Fully Monty. Then kick off your shoes at our famous after party at Connections Night Club with Torres wine, catering by Pinchos and

Spanish tunes from DJ Harvey Rae.
This female-driven story of family reconciliation is a sure-fire crowdpleaser packed with music and laughs. It doesn’t matter if you are out of shape, over the hill or underqualified, come join THE TRIBE and dance your troubles away!

Virginia (the fabulous Carmen Machi, Spanish Affair, SFF15) – who works as a cleaning lady but whose true calling is “street dance” – reunites with the son she gave up for adoption: Fidel (Paco León, Kiki, Love to Love SFF17), an executive who has lost it all, including his memory after a freak accident.Together with “The Mommies”, the outlandish dance group Virginia’s classmates have formed, mother and son will discover that they may come from very different worlds, but the same rhythm runs in their veins.

Inspired by the self-styled Las Mamis dance troupe who swept ‘Spain’s Got Talent’ in 2016, this joyous film from one of Spain’s most respected filmmakers and actors, Fernando Colomo (Isla Bonita, SFF16), is sure to get you into the groove! (Spanish with English subtitles)
