In a flurry of funk-fuelled singles, a modern soul man of Marvin Gaye-esque flair emerged as Aloe Blacc: a charismatic gentleman with a velvety tenor, a taste for neo-soul and a penchant for well-crafted, richly textured contemporary R&B classics.
