Alice’s world a wonder for all ages

19 December 2022

They may not have known much about Lewis Carroll’s creation beforehand, but junior reviewers Chloe and Jackson Davis loved going down the rabbit hole that is Wonderland.

“Wonderland” is an enchanting experience.

The room is laid out in an elaborate maze with many interactive rooms.

When we arrive, we are given a treasure map, which you can use to go through the exhibit. There are different maps for different ages, and you have to find stickers that are hinted at by clues on the map. This helps to create an immersive experience when looking through the exhibit, as we learn new facts and different things.

Right from the start, we are taken into Alice’s world as we are given a choice to go through door one or door two, one big and the other small. Our favourite room is the tea party room, which uses projectors in quite an innovative manner.

They project onto the walls and tables, showing different stages of a 3D scene, going from wireframe to fully rendered.  Food is projected onto plates and the walls around change to show different worlds.

Four children sit at. table cutting out shapes from pieces of. paper or pasting them on card. Behind them is a giant card.

The exhibition also features other interactive and exciting rooms, such as an arts and crafts room where we became cards and painted the queen’s roses.  There is an infinite mirror hallway, lots of drawers to open and doors to go through.

Reading the map is a bit confusing to start with but once we figure it out we’re on our way. Although we have never read the story of Alice in Wonderland or seen any of the movies, the exhibit is a great introduction to author Lewis Carroll’s creation.

“Wonderland” is very unique and interesting, and we would 100 percent recommend it to our friends of pretty much all ages.
